Correspondence with Alma Mahler and Franz Werfel, 1941-1964.

Includes 1 letter from Pinthus to Werfel, dated 1941, in which he recounts the difficulties he faced as an immigrant in the U.S. seeking professional employment and outlines his prospects. In Werfel's letter to Pinthus he imparts the gist of his recently completed play Jacobowsky und der Oberst. The remaining correspondence is from Pinthus to Alma Mahler, during her later years, when she was living in New York City. Also included are a sketch of Pinthus by Werfel (originally sent by Werfel to Kurt Wolff); and a typescript copy of 2 pieces about Werfel which appeared in the journal Die Aktion in 1916: an essay by Pinthus and a reminiscence by Otto Pick.
